To change you must raise the bar! Step outside of what you have known before and push your limits outwards.

The first time you touched a climbing wall, this was a leap of faith, stepping into something new. Possibly uncomfortable, you fought hard to make progress. Yet ultimately rewarding enough to keep you climbing and get you back to the wall!

You were not put off when faced with the initial feeling of incompetence.

But now how often do we avoid the moves we know might spit us off? Avoiding cracks we must jam? Slopers that need a subtle body position? Delicate footholds that require full trust in our feet 😬

Thing is, to improve quickly the next step we need to take will drag us away from the place where we felt competent, the place of previous comfort.

We peek into a new realm, a space of learning and possibility. Welcome to it. But don’t expect comfort!

We are all now faced with the stark realisation of clunky movement, lack of coordination, slipping, falling, bouncing, missing, over shooting. We are incompetent once again.

🧗Embrace incompetence. Be new, be bold. Your climbing will be better for it! 🤲

Enjoy your climbing, Joe
